FMTC Tips and Tricks - Re-occurring Emails
Occasionally, you may run into a problem in which you will receive the same email messages over and over again. Don't worry, you're not stuck in some strange time loop like Bill Murray in the movie Groundhog's Day where you repeat the same day over and over again until you get it right. You are probably experiencing one of two scenarios:
- Your email program is set to leave messages on the server once retrieved, or...
- Your email messages are not being completely downloaded from the server.
What should I do?
- Check the properties of your email program and make sure that it is set to "Remove messages from server". This is the default on your program, so unless you changed this setting yourself, you are probably not experiencing this problem.
- Give your email more time to download to your computer. If you are trying to download a large message, it may take several minutes to an hour to complete. If the email does not completely download, none of the messages, including those that may have been completely downloaded, will be deleted from the server. The next time you check the mail, you will get the same messages again. If giving more time for your email to download does not work, give us a call and we can find the problem email and delete it off of the server.
